Weekend Review

I had a pretty great weekend. We didn't do much, but it was still fun.

Friday night Hubby and I went to the town I am from and watched his friend drag race. Yes, I know Redneck..right? I enjoy it. I like the idea of going fast. We stayed out in the sun for a long long time and it wore us out.

Saturday I went shopping with my mom and her friend. I had to find something to wear to my interview on Monday. We found a few good deals, but didn't go spending crazy. I did buy me a pair of shoes that I will have to return. They are so comfy, but every time you take a step it sounds like air is being let out of them. I can't stand it and Hubby pointed out that its loud enough that people will look so...back to the store they go.

Later that night Hubby and I went to watch 'The Proposal', it was great. I am a huge Sandra Bullock fan and she did an amazing job. We went to the late late movie, but it was very very full. The only bad part was we had to sit beside young girls who commented on every.single.thing that happened. I could have done without their commentary. Grr!

Sunday we spent lunch with his stepdad and went to my parents for the evening. We had a great day.

Addicted to The O.C.

Have you ever watched the tv show The O.C.? Well, I just started and I am addicted. I wanted to watch it when it was on to begin with, but didn't start at the beginning and just never did at all.... until a week ago. During the summer, all the shows are on hiatus and that leaves me nothing to watch so I found The O.C. first season at FYE for $21. I bought it. It was used, but guaranteed. I found the others but they were a lot more there so I opted to wait. Last night when we went to Best Buy to purchase my lovely new Dell... I found the other season for ..... $19.99 each!!!! I bought the other three seasons and now I am complete. I have so many shows to watch now I don't know what do do with myself.

Have you ever found a show you could watch like that? Em and I did that with Gilmore Girls, and now I am going to make her do it with 90210 when it comes out on dvd... the new series that is.

Crashed

Our computer died today. We have had it for 3 years now, but it was used by my mother in law at work for years before that. We have never had to purchase one for ourselves. We have always had someone to give us one right when we needed it. Unfortunately, we had to buy a new one. We opted for a laptop instead of getting another desktop. However, we are hoping that Hubby's friend will be able to repair our other so we can have the best of both worlds.

We bought a Dell laptop and love it. The sad part, I lost ALL my bookmarks when the other crashed. Luckily we had an external hard drive and I didn't lose my pictures, shew!

What kind of computer do you use??

Random Ramblings

I haven't been blogging about daily life this week since I was telling the story of Hubby and I, so I thought I would take a minute and do my usual random thoughts.

Job
I have a job interview on Monday. Woohoo! I am super excited to be getting out there and looking. I didn't plan to do it to begin with, but I like the idea of trying something new. Wish me Luck!

Work
My current job is a pain. We are training a few people (**some capable, some not!) to do our jobs. Its really hard to sit with them when you know they are there to take your place. They apologize but I think that makes it worse. The count right now is at 14 days remaining, but they are most likely going to keep us a little longer. I won't be there IF by chance I have a job offer.

**If you have ever worked with someone that already knows everything there is to know about everything, then you will completely understand what I mean by that!

Vacation
We are still planning on taking a vacation/cruise in August. I went and paid the final payment on Monday so its official. I am super excited. Still not sure if it will be Hubby and I alone or if this will be another family affair. I was looking forward to the alone trip, but if they come I am sure we will have just as good of a time. We still plan to do our own thing and enjoy our time off!!

Life for us seems pretty great. We are moving forward with our house buying dream and if I am able to find a job that will make us that much closer. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

The Story of Us (Part 3)

Hubby proposed to me on December 16th, 2002. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I knew he was the one, so it was no question that I would say yes. He proposed on top of the space needle in Gatlinburg.

We were married on June 15th, 2002 in a small ceremony at my parents house. I enjoyed having the small setting and just the few friends and family that were able to attend.

Lucky me to call this man my husband.

This is one of my favorite pictures from that day.

The Story of Us (Part 2)

I didn't hear from him or even see him for a week. I thought for sure we were done. He must not be interested, he must not like me. You know, the girl in me came out and I was questioning why why why. One Saturday morning my phone rang, and it was him. He wanted to know how I was and when we were going to go out again. I didn't even let on that it was really bugging me that he didn't call for a week, and I played it cool. I eventually agreed to go out with him again. I guess you knew that though....

Don't let me fool you, I was not in love with this guy to begin with. I didn't even like him that much. He was arrogant and cocky, and thought he was something. I don't know what changed in him, but he became a person that I could depend on and loved more than anything. He was my best friend and I knew very soon that he was the one I was meant to be with. Lucky me!

The first time that he told me he loved me was when he dropped me off at my house after one of our many dates we were sitting in the driveway in his truck. From that day on something changed in the arrogant guy. He was the sweetest most amazing boyfriend and I was head over heels for him. I remember the feelings I had when he told me he loved me. I was over the moon!

Stay tuned tomorrow for The Proposal....

7 years ago today....

I married my best friend. The man who makes me laugh, the one who I adore, and the one who makes the bigger mess. Since its our anniversary, and I saw E do this, I thought I would tell you the story of us. From the first date until we were married.

How we met...

I met him thru a mutual friend. I was single. I had been in a relationship all through high school and I don't remember if I was really looking for a relationship when we were set up. I was given his phone number and told if I was interested to call him. The first phone call was interesting to say the least. You know the small talk stuff. Finally we decided that we would meet up where I worked and talk. It was POURING down rain when he arrived there at the time I got off. Neither of us wanted to get wet so he decided he would follow me home to my parents house. They were/are pretty strict where I am concerned so my mom made me sit on the couch downstairs and talk. It was really hard to get to know him so we didn't talk that much that night.

Our first date was with friends to TGI Friday's. I knew it was going to be love from the moment he rolled up his sleeves and dug into the bbq ribs. I knew he would fit in just fine with my family. My friends adored him and so did I. Unfortunately, we hit a snag that next week and he decided that he wasn't going to call me. I was the girl in the relationship and I was not about to call him.

Stay tuned for the rest......

Happy Again

I have to say that I am super happy today. I went straight after work and picked up my engagement ring. It was all fixed and glowingly shiny. It fit right back onto my finger just like it was suppose to and I no longer feel naked. Ah! Happy Girl!

Weekend Update

As per usual, I will catch you all up on the weekend happenings.

Friday was a long long boring day at work. As you know we are training and that is an adventure. No fun what so ever. Since I still work there and there is always the chance that someone might find my blog, I guess I better keep my opinions to myself... but come July 2nd, all bets are off. Anyway...after work, I ran home and picked up my engagement ring. I had to take it to the jeweler where we purchased it. The other day while I was at dinner with E, I realized that one of the prongs that holds the center diamond in was broken. It would have been too easy for the diamond to fall out and I didn't want to take that chance. I had to leave it (boo!) and will pick it up on Wednesday. Its only going to cost me $27 to have it fixed which is much much less than I expected. I feel completely naked without it.

Saturday was a fun day. I got up at about 10 and cleaned a little bit before getting ready to spend the evening with my work girls. We made plans to watch "He's just not that into you" and veg out in front of the tv. Turns out we had to have the kids there with us, which was fun. They are so much entertainment. They both have 2 year olds and they are so funny together. One is a girl, Baby C, and one is a boy, Baby K. We ate and ate, but luckily it was food that was good for us. We have veggies, fruits, and uhum... dirt cake(courtesy of me!). We were there for about five hours trying to watch a two hour movie.
(I do recommend you watch it, it was very true and very funny!!)

Sunday was a busy day for us. We had breakfast at my parents(bacon, country ham, eggs, and fried potatoes) and dinner at Outback. Both meals were wonderful, but I have to say that nothing compares to my mommy's cooking.

My Uncle is at home, like I said before, and doing pretty well. He is still having a hard time adjusting to not being able to do much for himself. He is still weak, and they have not set up therapy for him to make his muscles stronger. That makes no sense to me, but I am not a doctor. I hope to be able to see him soon, but I would much much rather visit when he is well. I think I am most afraid that he will not remember who I am, and I don't think I could stand that!!

Vacation is still going as planned. We will be making our final payment on Friday and I am super excited and ready for it. A whole week to relax and do absolutely nothing!! AND it will be the very first vacation that Hubby and I have taken alone.

In other news, Hubby has been sick all weekend. Just when you think he is better, he has another bout of sickness. He is having horrible sinus problems this year and its not fun. He is miserable. He is having to stay doped up on meds, and is drowsy most of the night when he is home. I sure hope he is better soon!!

Work is another issue that I would LOVE to rant about, but like I said earlier I will wait. I better keep my mouth closed and just be thankful that I still have the job for another 24 days.

Your First Car

Today at lunch we had a really interesting conversation about our first cars. I am quite proud (not!) of my first car. First, you have to agree to tell me about yours if I tell you about mine. Deal? Good!

My very first car was a 1992 Geo Storm. It was blue, not a pretty blue, but blue. It had a radio that worked some of the time. You had to make sure you turned the volume down while it was working or else when you were driving and it come on you might have a heart attack. It did not have power windows, and the handle to roll the driver side down was stripped so we had a pair of pliers attached at all times. (Redneck much?!)
It had an oil leak somewhere, and somehow it would leak into my front drivers side floor. I could not have regular floor mats. I had to have plastic so it didn't soak thru and get on my clothes. The only good thing was it had a killer air conditioner, it would freeze you to death.

After that car I have had a 2002 Mercury Cougar that I loved, a 2003 Ford Explorer that I grew to hate, and presently my '07 Fusion that I drive like I stole. I love love love my car. Hubby never drives it, but he doesn't complain. He is quite happy with his '03 F-250.

What was your first car? What do you drive now?

Don't talk to Strangers

You know how when you are little and your mom tells you.. Don't talk to strangers? Well I didn't listen to her.

Have you ever been in a store and someone will speak to you about something being overpriced and you casually talk back to them. Something similiar happened to me and I was soooo wishing I had kept my mouth shut, nodded, and walked away. But did I? ... nope!

On Saturday, I ran down the road to our local Blockbuster to return some movies and redeem the free ones we were owed. I was walking around reading the titles minding my own business. I got down the aisle to 'Paul Blart~>Mall Cop' and there was this young guy standing there. He was dressed in his full motorcycle gear with his helmet in his hand. He picked up the movie and busted out laughing. Not quietly, but not horribly loud either. I looked in his direction and he spoke. He said " I don't know why, but looking at that picture makes me laugh" and silly me, I spoke back.

Me: That is a good movie.
Cycle Guy: Really, I have been wanting to see it.

(I spoke AGAIN!)

Me: Yeah, its funny.
Cycle Guy: Thanks! I love his tv show.

(why didn't I run then when I had the chance?!?! )

Cycle Guy: Do you like stand up comedy?

( huh? is he still talking to me? I turned around just in time to be face to face with him.
Darn it!... he is talking to me!)

Me: Yeah
Cycle Guy: I really love Kat Williams! (grinning ear to ear!)
Me: Yes, he is funny.

I turned to walk away, realizing what I had done...he followed. He was behind me all thru the store, repeating things from Kat Williams stand up. He told me about 5 different things he remembered. He didn't tell me the short version. He went into detail!! I finally got away from him (what seemed like 20 mins later!) and walked (fast!) to the other side of the store and watched for him to leave. I heard him talking to several other people, so I wasn't his only story hostage.

Don't get me wrong, he was very nice. The only thing that was hard for me, was he was right up in my face. He was in my personal space. He would also slap my arm right when he got to the punch line of his stories. I might be bruised!

Moral of the story, beware of strangers. Our parents do (sometimes!!) know what they are talking about.

Bitter Sweet

Today was the first official day of training. We are training the people that will be taking our place. Its kinda bittersweet to think that we won't be going to this place and working on a daily basis. Its kinda sad.

In 31 days, I will be jobless.
