4 day.. and counting

In four days it will be Christmas!  Lots of family events are planned for the weekend, but for now the house is calm and quiet!  Hubby is on the road, but he is on his way slowly (at 64 mph, at most) headed toward home.  He should be here on Friday.

I spent the week making candy to share with my friends and family.  I made Southern pecan fudge and chocolate turtles.  They both turned out very well and I can't wait to share them with everyone. I attempted to make peanut butter roll, and that was a major flop.  After turning everything in my kitchen -- including myself -- into a sugar coated mess, I gave up and trashed the entire thing.  I've heard people say that you can't make candy when its suppose to rain, or if its raining.  Next time, I will listen!  I will share photo's of the goodies once I have them in the decorative tins that I plan to give them away in.

Time to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation -- a V Family must!

Happy Holidays 2011

Thanksgiving was a great day!  I got to spend the day with my parents. Hubby was out of town, which didn't make me happy.  However, I know he is doing what he is doing for us.  He got home on Friday morning and was with me all weekend.

Saturday he decorated the outside of our house and I must say he did a wonderful job.  We also have candles in each of the windows, but you can't see that until dark. =)

On Sunday we put up our tree and did the inside decorating.  I love this time of year.  My house is covered in snowmen.
Happy Holidays!!

7 years ago today....

I married my best friend. The man who makes me laugh, the one who I adore, and the one who makes the bigger mess. Since its our anniversary, and I saw E do this, I thought I would tell you the story of us. From the first date until we were married.

How we met...

I met him thru a mutual friend. I was single. I had been in a relationship all through high school and I don't remember if I was really looking for a relationship when we were set up. I was given his phone number and told if I was interested to call him. The first phone call was interesting to say the least. You know the small talk stuff. Finally we decided that we would meet up where I worked and talk. It was POURING down rain when he arrived there at the time I got off. Neither of us wanted to get wet so he decided he would follow me home to my parents house. They were/are pretty strict where I am concerned so my mom made me sit on the couch downstairs and talk. It was really hard to get to know him so we didn't talk that much that night.

Our first date was with friends to TGI Friday's. I knew it was going to be love from the moment he rolled up his sleeves and dug into the bbq ribs. I knew he would fit in just fine with my family. My friends adored him and so did I. Unfortunately, we hit a snag that next week and he decided that he wasn't going to call me. I was the girl in the relationship and I was not about to call him.

Stay tuned for the rest......

Happy Mother's Day '09

We had a very wonderful day. Hubby and I started by having lunch at his Mom's. We bought her two candles. They are made by Paula Deen and they smelled good enough to eat! She didn't cook for us because it was her day so instead we had KFC's new grilled Chicken. Hubby was quite impressed, but I didn't even try it. I am not a big chicken on the bone person...ha!

Next, we spent the evening at my mom's. She mentioned she wanted a new desk chair, so Hubby and I planned to purchase one. After realizing all the different types they have, I decided it would be best to let her pick it out. So instead we bought her a card and I drew her a chair and told her we owed her one of them. She was surprised and laughed at me for it.

I have to add.. I am oh so very blessed to have these two women in my life. My mom is the most supportive person ever, and I would not be who I am if it wasn't for her. She takes very good care of me still and I love her dearly. My Mother in Law is the best as well. She has done so much for us since we have been married and I don't think I could have asked for a better in law!

To end our day, we came home, I popped popcorn, and we sat and watched The Unit season finale. That is by far our favorite show!

Saturday Happenings...

Today has been such a relaxing day, at least for the most part.I did not get out of bed completely until noon, and I haven't done that in forever. It felt great to just be lazy. The whole day hasn't been a waste thought because I did my grocery shopping, went to Hallmark and got Mother's Day cards, and ended up at walmart for their gifts.

Hubby is going to cook steaks on the grill for us tonight and we will most likely end up watching a movie. Tomorrow will be a busy day as we, like most of you, will have two families to celebrate with. I will have details about our busy day tomorrow evening.

Happy Mother's Day!

Our Easter

We have had a great day today. We started our day with breakfast at my parents. They go all out when they know we are coming. (Peach wasn't able to go with us this time because my parents dog has been sick and I don't want her to be.) They fixed us sausage, bacon, and country ham, fried potatoes and biscuits and gravy. If you have ever read my blog you know that my mom is by far the best cook ever. We got our belly's full and sat around and talked a while.

For lunch we headed to my in-laws. They fixed BBQ, baked beans, and mac and cheese. It was so very yummy. The whole family was there today and it was great to sit around and talk. They pulled out old pics and it was really interesting to hear Mr. V's Mamaw tell stories about them.

Tonight, my SIL Amy and her boyfriend John came to our house to watch a movie. About half way thru we decided to get pizza and head back to my MIL's house to watch the rest. Mr. V wasn't feeling very well so he stayed home asleep. We watched 7 pounds with Will Smith. It was very good but a little hard to figure out until the end.

Now, I am at home about to crash. I am so worn out. I have been going steady since 8 this morning.

I will tell you all about my lovely potato soup mess tomorrow.

*Happy Easter!**

I hope you all have a great day!

*Happy St. Patty's Day*

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Although I am partially Irish, I do not celebrate other than the usual wearing of green and maybe a little decor. We have had our cubes at work decorated for a while now, but it came down today. We are soo tired of it.

Hope everyone remembered their green today!!

(Not so) Wordless Wednesday - Boss' Birthday

Today was my boss J's 40th Birthday. In true Landair Girl style, we had to celebrate. We plotted out everything that we would do yesterday and I even had Hubby's help. We decorated with streamers, a black wreath, E made a head stone as seen in the one picture and I had hubby spray paint some flowers for me. I could not find black flowers anywhere, so that was the best option. We made her wear a big floppy hat that was black and had a white polka dot scarf on it and flowers that we stuck on to match the hideous ones we had in her cube.

The middle picture is where she changed her cake from 40 to 30... quite the comedian isn't she!

In other news, lots is going on with The V's and I just haven't had the time to blog about them. I hope to catch everyone up soon.

My Cube Home

Today I decorated my cube home. I blogged several days ago that I like to have my desk at work decorated in the current holiday's theme.

This time its St. Patty's day.

I didn't spend but about $5 total on everything that I have used. You can't really see it but I used wired clover garland around my computer screen making it super festive! Do you decorate your desk? Send me the pics or the link and I will post it here on my blog.

I found these lovely yummy treats! One of my favorite things to have at Easter! YUM!

Better and Baking..

I am so so very glad to be better. I am not completely better, I still don't have an appetite. If that wants to stay away for say..another month or so that would be fine with me.

This weekend was a blur as I was sick most of it, but it was still a tad bit of fun. Saturday morning Hubby and I got up and scrambled around the house grabbing whatever we could for breakfast. For some reason I couldn't get motivated, I didn't understand why at the time but I would soon find out. A friend of ours had rented a cabin in Gatlinburg and invited us to spend the night so I fixed us a frozen pizza and got ready to head outside to wash and vacuum my car before we went. I started feeling sick to my stomach right after finishing the vacuuming part but just thought it was probably the frozen pizza not agreeing with me. I ran upstairs and felt fine right after so I didn't think it was any reason for me to stay home. On the ride up to meet them, my stomach started feeling rather queasy, but I was okay. I was really glad we went because we had a great time with them. Hubby played pool and we all sat around and talked. I just love being around them. We had been invited to stay the night but we didn't bring clothes and I didn't think it was the best idea to stay.

Sunday I was in bed or on the couch all.day.long! I felt horrible! I had no energy, my body ached, and I was begging for someone to take my stomach away. By Monday morning I was quite sure it was a virus as it was acting just like it had with the person I got it from. I came home at lunch and boy was I glad. I was SICK SICK SICK the rest of the day. Tuesday I was not any better and stayed home in bed. By Wednesday morning I was up and ready to get out of the house, knowing that I couldn't stand to stay at home another day. I was bored outta my head the other two days. You can only watch so much of daytime tv before you have nothing else to watch and nothing else to do.

So...here it is Thursday afternoon and I have nothing exciting going on to blog about except I am about to head into my kitchen and bake some cookies the cheat way. Tomorrow is our Valentine's day at work since we will not be there Saturday. I volunteered for cookies. I will take pics to share....

Happiness!

I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

Today was back to work for me and Hubby. He is still at work now. He is suppose to be off next week on vacation, so I think he isn't too upset about having to work today.

Yesterday was a busy day for us. We spent the morning having breakfast with my parents. They cooked a huge breakfast as usual and we enjoyed ourselves. When we left there, we headed to Hubby's parents house for their Christmas get-together. We had a great time there too.

We were blessed with several gifts this year, but the best part of the whole day was being able to spend the time with my Husband. I can promise that I will never take a single second that I have with him for granted.....I have something I want to share with you all...

This past week, my friend from work showed me a blog. It was a lady who has a terminal illness and her doctor has told her that their is nothing they can do. She is now on hospice and she is very young. She was sent home to prepare to die and she has two babies at home. She uses the blog to talk about her daily life and I was in tears reading it. I am going to see if I can possibly find it to share with those of you who are interested.

I don't know how you would ever be strong enough to do something like that, I can't imagine!

Here is the link to her blog, prepare to cry! They have updated it and sadly.....
